06/26/09 Class notes @ Forge Fighting Louisville Martial Arts
Stick training:
We started class with FCS Kali 12 angles
Then we moved onto Contradas, with the 5 angles of attack we used the wall defense and countered with a variety of attack such as labtiks, witiks, and redondos.
Blade training:
The class started off with pendulum tapping and then moved onto phase two tapping moving into striking and control positions.
We sparred with Blade Sport training knives
A few of the new guys got introduced to flogging. A practice which helps the fighter to move past their reflexive flench response to pain.

Empty hands: The class warmed up with 3 rounds of phase

we worked each station for 2 minutes then rotated. Once everyone had completed the circuit we added elements to the previous station. It was a good way to break up the monotony.

In attendance: Matt Campbell, Jim Karban, Bryan Wilson,
Mark Waldman, Eddie Wells
Empty hand: We started working on pangamot set #1. This
week we worked through more of the list. and focused on
Jab-Elbow-Knee. Brian and Mark worked Hubad angle 1,2,
and straight line. Jim and Matt worked three switches for
angle 1 Hubad.
Blade work: Started with pendulum tapping to establish
flow. We worked on staying tight and keeping the bone
shields in place while tapping. Feeder increased the hand
removal aspect and started grabbing the tapping hand.
Grip removals was discussed and picking up the tap. Jim
and Matt focused on Palusot flow and variations.
Stick Work: Brian and Mark were taught twirling form 2.
Cuentada angles 1&2 were worked for improved body
mechanics.
Twirling form 2 notes: RL “means Right Lead” LL “means
Left Lead” All strikes are performed with twirls.
Start RL closed chamber
Step forward LL angle 2, vertical twirl to open chamber

In attendance: Matt Campbell, Jim Karban, Eddie Wells,
Bryan Wilson, Geoff Bosmann
Empty hand: We started working on pangamot set #1.
Focusing on the hook and uppercut. While doing the hook
keeping the wrist neutral, 90 deg. bend in the arm, and
turning the body 90 deg. to the target. While doing the
uppercut firing from the chin, pinning the elbow to the hip
before you fire, and letting the power flow up from the back
leg through the body.
Blade work: Started with pendulum tapping to establish
flow. Worked on the feeder stripping the tapping hand from
various positions. A strong sense of good hand is being
developed while understanding what makes a bad hand
tap. The group discussed predeployment observations from
real life scenarios.
Stick work: Balintawak cuentada angles 1-3 working body
mecahnics of triangulation, proper footwork, and
chambering. The instruction that seemed to trigger with
most of us was punching with the middle of the stick to
achieve the proper power and body mechanics in the block.

In attendance
Matt Campbell, Jim Karban, Bryan Wilson, Mark Waldman,
and Geoff Bosmann
Empty Hand: We started class with pangamot set #1.
Emphasizing proper placement of the shoulder and correct
body mechanics for the hook and uppercut.
Blade work: Next we started with pendulum blade tapping
to establish flow, then moved into corkscrew tapping. We
worked on pinning the blade to the hip as it passed through
6 0′clock. We discussed the difference of feeding the thrust
compared to the slash. Moving to a control position from
your tap was next on the agenda, with blade hand on cross
hip and other hand on feeders bicep. From control position
we worked our pangamot.
Stick work: Feeder angles 1, 2 and 5. Reciever works wings
and deflections with counter strike onto thai pad.
