Todays workout was a lot of active recovery including foam rolling, stretching, and trigger point. After Squat day special attention needs to be given to the recovering muscles.

Some of the material covered:

CPR

Suturing

Giving IV’s

Applying Tourniquets

Developing your Med Kit Bag

Intubation

Tracheostomy

and more

The group was able to get hands on learning experience which is rare if not in the medical field. Information on how best to continue developing our skill sets and where to get supplies when in a pinch was very valuable info.

Thanks to Guro Harley Elmore of Warriors Way for organizing this training opportunity.

The pants come in two colors: olive and stone (stone is somewhat see through). The deep cargo pockets are zippered and there is cell phone pocket on the front of the right thigh. The zippered pockets are meshed lined and there is a mesh strip down the inseam. The pants are also able to accommodate our preferred rigger’s belt.

We were overly impressed by the pants. The manufacturer promotes them as lightweight, waterproof, quick drying and have a sun guard of 30. We found all of these to be true. It rained heavily all day Saturday, and we remained dry. The pants held up well remaining dry while rolling in wet gravel and not showing any damage. The exterior of the pant dried very quickly. We wore them for three straight days without any odor as well; they were as fresh day 3 as day 1. Forge Fighting recommends ExOfficio Vent’r pant for hot weather gear.

I have been getting a lot of questions about grip training and how one should begin this process. Grip training should be apart of every warriors daily routine. Your grip is essential to deploying and retaining your weapon successfully. Grip also plays a major role in power hitting and grappling.

I would advise the beginner to start with:

Exercises

1. Pinch Lift for holds, also use work gloves to protect your skin.

2. Captains of Crush Grippers

3. Finger tip pushups, be sure to do them on the very tips of your fingers rather than the full pad of each digit.

Do the Pinch holds for 10-15 secs, and the other exercises for 15-20 reps.

1. How often?

I would do them 3 times a week if you can, but twice a week if struggling with this. Working your grip before your combatives class will warm up the muscles of the arm and properly load them for the work you are about to undergo.

2. How many sets of each?

A good number is 3 sets per exercise, which you should easily do quickly.

3. Should you do all these exercises on one day?

Yes.
